Girl Scouts of Maine is seeking an additional Placement Specialist to join our team in South Portland!

What does a Placement Specialist do?

* Register new members over the phone!

* Help onboard new volunteers!

* Assist parents & caregivers in finding options for their girl!

* Start new troops across Maine!

* Ensure online participation catalog is up-to-date!

What are the accountabilities for the position?

1. Work with Placement Director & team to meet or exceed the annual membership goal for adult and girl members.

2. Assist customers with each step of the placement process, reinforcing their choice to be part of Girl Scouts. Provide effective, proactive and professional communications, customer service and follow-up to meet the needs of parents/caregivers during the placement process and the needs of volunteers until they are fully approved and placed in a role.

3. Develop and maintain proficiency in the use of Girl Scouts Volunteer Systems, the Salesforce platform designed for Girl Scout councils. Enter and maintain accurate member data and records, gain an understanding of the automated work flow within Volunteer Systems and assist the Placement Director in creating pertinent and effective supporting material.

4. Become a content expert on Girl Scout program & procedures. Learn the ins and outs relating to membership & volunteering.

5. Collaborate with other staff members to form new troop, verify the approval and placement of volunteers.

What are we looking for in a team member?

  • Experience in sales and customer service in an office setting required.
  • Able to communicate effectively with a diverse group of people.
  • Highly developed customer service skills with the ability to quickly hear and understand customer issues and problem-solve.
  • Proficient in multi-tasking; able to smoothly interact with customers on the phone while simultaneously entering and updating data.
  • Experience with Salesforce or another CRM system.
  • Easy technology adopter, quick to learn new software and eager to embrace new applications.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and takes initiative; is flexible, adaptable, organized and has a strong attention to detail while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work, while managing multiple deadlines.
  • Must protect and maintain confidentiality of customer information.
  • Honest & fair, friendly & helpful, considerate &…familiarity with Girl Scouts is preferred!

What are the qualifications for the position?

  • High School diploma required; College degree or equivalent life experience preferred.
  • Must have access to personal transportation for business travel, a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Must subscribe to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement and become a registered member of GSUSA.
  • Willing to assist with external recruiting during peak season(s), which would require some evening and weekend hours and travel.
  • Ability and willingness to perform tasks that involve the ability to exert physical effort, which may involve some bending, lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 25 pounds).

Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
